Rahiim Muhammad – A Memphis artist who created his own type of music called “Reality Muzic”, that purpose is talking about real things that have happened in order to help others in similar situations; to create change and prevent mistakes in our youth. The track “Look at My Life” is a prime example of that type of music. He mentors those around him naturally, wanting to prevent them from making mistakes that he did. He is an example of living and learning. We commend his hard work and dedication.

Kevin Carmody – Coined “the lumberjack” Kevin’s artistry is colorful, interesting and awesome. He is a member of the artist collective mADurgengy, which was created by Hip Hop Pioneer Mr. Chuck D. His ability to capture the artists that he does is an incredible talent and shows his skill and passion for what he does. Hip Hop, other musical genres and skateboard culture are lucky to have this talented artist creating for it. His passion for his craft flows from his pencils and paint brushes. We look forward to more of his dope creations.

Shinobi Ninja – This Rap Rock group out of New York is a bowl full of everything you love made just the way you like. They are as talented as they are colorful. The group of six not only make great music, they also introduce you into their lives with their Shinobi Ninja “T.V.” that can be found on their website. They are approachable and likeable. We appreciate their humility and positivity and anticipate much more from these talented six that make up Shinobi Ninja.

Find more about these artists under the “News” tab on our website or from their contact information below.

For the rest of June, we will continue to promote the works of these talented artist of the month of June. We will also be introducing humanitarian Danielle Worth, who has an organization called “Up Rising Stars Inc.” that is out of New Jersey. This is a family ran organization that she runs with her mother and her sister. This non-profit organization was made to give back to the community by investing in our children. It helps students achieve their academic dreams and goals. They give scholarships to high school students to help pay for college books and tuition.

The smallest of things, can have a large impact. Be it talented musical artists putting music out there that teaches lessons or makes you feel good, or be it talented works of art that we can see with our eyes and enjoy. If we don’t have a special talent, we can just give back to our community with hard work or stand up for someone who can’t stand up for themselves. Positivity breeds positivity. By being mindful of what we create in this world, we can make this world a better place, one creation at a time.

We appreciate every artist that we have had the pleasure of presenting and learning more about. We will continue to showcase the talents of positive artists as well as reporting activist, activism, humanitarians and humanitarianism in our communities. Thank you everyone for your support. We will continue to do our part in making this world a better place. #wearehumanfirst

Artist of the Week - Kevin Carmody: Not Your Average Joehttps://hiphophumanism.ning.com/news/artist-of-the-week-kevin-carmody-not-your-average-joe2017-06-14T21:55:07.000Z2017-06-14T21:55:07.000ZJay Renehttps://hiphophumanism.ning.com/members/TheJayRene

Kevin Carmody, coined "The Lumberjack" is not your average Joe. He is a member of Mr. Chuck D.'s mADurgengy artist collective. His above average art is followed up with an above average attitude. He is humble and truly loves what he does. Passion is something that many lack now a day. No one seems to have passion about anything. It is refreshing and appreciated to see someone with some passion, especially since that passion is something toward the good. We have an interview that we conducted with Kevin that will give you more insight in who he is as a person and as an artist. Here it goes.

HHH: Tell us a little about yourself...

Kevin: I'm 36 years old now. I attended Frostburg State University- (received Bachelor of Fine Arts), Montgomery College- (received Associate of Applied Science in Construction Management), and the University of Maryland University College- (Received Master of Science in Management). Art is a hardcore hobby of mine. It is not how I make my living. I just have fun with it. Simply put, I love it.

HHH: We can definitely appreciate your art, thank you for creating it. So when did you first fall in love with Hip Hop?

Kevin: As a teen and young adult, I'd often find myself hanging out smack dab in city. It didn't matter If I was in Washington DC, Baltimore, or surrounding sub-cities/suburban areas like Wheaton, Silver Spring, Rockville, etc.; hip hop was always in the vicinity. It was either in your face or it was background noise. Regardless, it was just there.

HHH: How you said that, about Hip Hop and its presence was awesome. Hip Hop was my “theme” music growing up as well.

Kevin: Yes. Also, I grew up during part of Hip Hop's Golden Era. This was part of a time when rap was exploding. It was a time when it had surged into new American territories. It wasn't just in LA or NYC anymore. It had become one of the most intriguing developments in US pop culture/art. Especially for kids. As a result--I loved it and it has stuck with me.

HHH: Same here. We are around the same age, so I know exactly what you are talking about. Southern artist where shining, Mid-West…it was an awesome time to be connected to Hip Hop.

HHH: What made you begin to create the type of art you do? Hip Hop obviously has influenced you.

Kevin: It has always just been a music I have been fascinated with. There are so many different avenues I could take when answering this question.

HHH: We are sure it is a complex answer. Well which piece is your favorite and why?

Kevin: My biggie Smalls piece. The colors and drip turned out decent.

HHH: Yes, we like that one as well. Its way better than decent. It is a dope piece of art. So how does your art change the world?

Kevin: I’m not sure my art has changed the word. I just want to continue doing what I do without changing much [as an artist]. This would be having art shows while keeping my artistic themes true to the skateboarding and music industry. I also want to branch out into doing artwork related to sports figures. Designing dippy labels for soda and beer bottles would be enjoyable too. Just some quick thoughts. However, I don’t think any of these are world changers. Ha ha.

HHH: We appreciate your humbleness. However, we believe your art does change the world. It's creative thought that becomes reality. It is positive and anything positive is effecting our world. So thank you again. What is something you want the world to know?

Kevin: I’m not sure how to answer this. If I did, I’d have to ponder over this question for quite some time. Besides, my answer would end up being way too long for this interview. My answer now is ……I don’t know.

HHH: Fair enough, it is a big question. So did you get the name ‘Lumberjack’?

Kevin: This has no deep meaning or comprehensive origin. In college, my buddies gave silly nicknames to each other for laughs. Mine was Lumberjack. Some artists, like myself, keep nicknames that stick. They may also have phrases they coin. Personally, I do it for someone to easily remember me. However, I can't speak for others.

Kevin is a laid back guy who just loves what he does. We are thankful for this. We at Hip Hop Humanism appreciate Kevin’s hard work with his many artistic creations. No matter what brings you to Kevin’s art, one thing everyone who comes will agree upon: that is his art is fresh, dope, colorful and interesting. For more on Kevin check out his website and various pieces of art. His information can be found below.

Hip Hop Humanism is stoked about brining you another positive artist. We look forward to showcasing Shinobi Ninja which will start tomorrow evening and last the week. Thank you to all the artist of different kinds that have given us something that they can never get back: their time. We do not take that for granted.

Artist of the Week - Kevin Carmodyhttps://hiphophumanism.ning.com/news/artist-of-the-week-kevin-carmody2017-06-08T23:28:41.000Z2017-06-08T23:28:41.000ZJay Renehttps://hiphophumanism.ning.com/members/TheJayRene

Coined “The Lumberjack”, Kevin Carmody’s art is as vibrant as it is awesome. He is a skilled artist and illustrator out of the Washington Metropolitan area. His creations range from mixed media, illustrations, painting and pencil drawing. His art captures the essence of Hip Hop artist, as well as different musical genre themed pieces, and even skateboard culture. Take a moment to learn more about the creative, colorful and amazing artwork of Kevin Carmody aka The Lumberjack.

Kevin is part of the Chuck D. artist collective mADurgency. Why he was selected is clear. His art are not your average portraits. He captures what he creates in a fun and vibrant way. His love for the craft is easily seen from his use of imagination and realism. He says about art “art is a hardcore hobby of mine. It is not how I make a living…simply put, I love it”. He captures the essence of the Hip Hop icon as well as the spirit of them. His ability to show realism while keeping things interesting is delightful to the eye. He has created artworks of The Notorious B.I.G., Redman, Method Man, Adam Yauch aka MCA and Tupac Shakur just to name some. When viewing these works of art, not only will you see the artist he is portraying on the canvas, but you can also see his personal style in each piece of art.

Hip Hop music has definitely inspired many of the art works that Kevin has created. When asked about Hip Hop’s influence in his life he says “Hip Hop was always in the vicinity. It was either in your face or it was background noise. Regardless it was just there”. Many of us can relate to Kevin when it comes to Hip Hop music and it just goes to show again that Hip Hop can reach many places. While Kevin was listening to Hip Hop in Baltimore or Wheaton, I was listening to it in Wilmington and Newark and someone else was listening to it in Montreal and someone else in Berlin and someone else in Little Rock…Hip Hop touches the masses, just like Kevin’s art. Anyone touched by Hip Hop could appreciate his artwork and be reminded of a space in time.

His Hip Hop canvas artwork is only part of what Kevin creates. He also designs skateboards and art works dedicated to the skateboard culture (which has merged with Hip Hop culture also in recent years). They are colorful and packed full of imagery. Each piece is unique and draws your eye into it with its colors, images and just overall kick ass appearance. Viewing this art will create a colorful story in your head that you will always remember. Kevin’s “go with the flow” approach in life, passes fluidity into his artwork. Overall it is pleasing to more than just one sense.

Humbly Kevin doesn’t think his art is world changing, however we must beg differ. Art changes the world. It makes something out of nothing. It brings beauty into the world: conversation, imagination; it brings people together, sparks creativity, inspires, motivates, intrigues…oh yes Kevin Carmody’s art is changing the world, just like the other great artist out there. Be sure to watch out for more on Kevin Carmody and his art work on Hip Hop Humanisms web page. View more of his art and read his upcoming interview to learn more about the artist and his passion.

Rahim Muhammad - Independent Artist originally from Memphis Tennessee aged 29. Rahim Muhammad is one of those inspirational stories that can give little boys from the inner city a feeling of hope to make it out. He created his own style of music that he calls “Reality Muzic”. He not only makes music, but he also dabbles in body art and hair design. He isn’t afraid to be himself and express himself through his music and style of dress. He promotes that children be themselves and strive for their dreams no matter what. He is proof that you can beat the odds through hard work and perseverance.

Kevin Carmody - Coined “The Lumberjack” his art is as vibrant as it is awesome. He is a skilled visual artist and illustrator out of the Washington Metropolitan area. His creations range from mixed media, illustrations, painting and pencil drawing. His art celebrates Hip Hop artist, as well as other musical genres, and even skateboard culture. He is a member of the Chuck D. artist collective mADurgency. His use of color and his unique personal style makes his art fun and fresh. His artwork shows that you can express yourself in ways that can bring others together through the arts with his various fans and art approaches.

Shinobi Ninja – This group is not your ordinary Hip Hop group. They are also not your ordinary Rock group. They are a combination of both. A genre called Rap Rock. It is fresh and blends two different genres together, which creates a unique style, that isn’t your ordinary Hip Hop sound, but is a sound you can definitely feel has Hip Hop all through it. Out of Brooklyn, NY, the group of six, blend their personalities perfectly to produce music that is not only good to the ear, but good to the heart. A positive group that is talking about more than senseless behavior. Their music makes you think and makes you move. With Shinobi TV, these artists give you a glimpse inside of their daily lives, which shows their humility.

We can’t wait to tell you more about these artists and how their craft is making its statement in this world. We hope that you enjoy hearing about them as much as we enjoy writing about them and their crafts. See the links below to find out more about each of these Artists of the Week for the month of June. We will continue to bring you positive content and positive artistry. We appreciate you all.
